BACA

BCAC 2011 Qualifier
Willows Farm Lake

After arriving at the venue we registered then took a good look around, we had done our homework so we new the Island end was going to be key!

When they put 2 swims in what had previously been a no fishing zone we new we had to be on pegs one to six to be in with a shout, we opted for swims 4, 3, 2, 1, 5, then the rest did not matter,It was all down to the draw! We did not draw well so opted for swim 11.

After getting the TFG force 8 bivvie up & the chairs & Rods up we waited for the first hooter this was to start marker floating and pre baiting, so we had feel around but there was nothing in the way of features just a little silty line down the lake. So we put out 1 Kg of slow sink particle and 200 grm of chopped Celtic bait boilies and waited, while everybody else in middle water was smashing bait out.

The second hooter sounded Richard got his rods out using www.pvabags.net and then I got mine out and within 10 minuets Richard had a take it was a bream so we thought with fish in front of us there was hope! my rod went 22 minutes in and a nice little carp of 7lb 2 oz this was the first carp of the competition and the cameras were round for a photo shoot with our TFG hats on and Celtic bait T shirts we were off the mark and very happy but had lost a lot of time.

We got my rod back out and waited! It was as if somebody had flicked a switch it went dead, the fish just disappeared and there was reports of fish being hauled up the Island end so we stuck to our plan and kept working the water in front of us, Richard then went to get some shut eye on the TFG comfort zone bed for the night and I was on night shift but all was quiet, come morning I had some shut eye.

That night we fished hard and the heavens opened and on with the TFG chill-out jackets to keep us dry and warm, by the morning it was obvious it would take a miracle so I got out the TFG all-rounder rod and tried to snaffle a couple of fish on the feeder but there were not even any bream about, so we fished to the hooter and gave it our best shot roll on 2012 we will try again.
