After finishing work at 2pm friday i couldnt wait to get the car
packed and set off down my local syndicate, lamby lake in Cardiff. i
arrived at about 3pm. As i looked round the lake there was a about 5
anglers on the lake all bivvied up for the weekend, My friend had got
down the lake earlier in the day to try and get us some good pegs. He
decided to fish into the wind this time because after chatting to a few
of the boys who were already fishing they hadnt had anything on the
opposite bank, we thought the fish would follow this strong warm
wind that had been blowing the opposite way all week and people were
catching in the teeth of the wind last week.I set up next to my mate
with the wind in our faces. As time went on the rain picked up. It
definitly looked good for a couple of fish. This time i was going to give
the celtic baits crustacen boilies a go.i had decided to fish two on
the bottom and one on the choddy as most anglers down the lake were
catching on chods lately.I used a single 18mm crustacen boilie on the
two bottom bait rods and chucked them out and sprayed 100 or so boilies
around the hookbaits hopefully they wanted a good munch, on the choddy i
used a spicy sausage pop up and threw it out to my right away from all
the angling pressure that was opposite me. As the nite went on nothing
happened and i fell asleep really early due to being up at half 5 all
week for work. i woke up at 7am saturday morning, bobbins not moved, so i
went for a walk down to the bottom of the lake right on the back of
this wind that was blowing. the baliff was fishing on the opposite bank
and had 3 fish threw the night one of the biggies at 27lb down in weight
normally 30lb +and two simmos at around the 28lb mark.I went back to
have a chat with my mate about moving down the bottom
end.We both decided to move down the bottom end of the lake. By 12pm we
was all set up in our new swims. At 6 oclock i had a screamer on the
choddy on the spicy sausage pop up which matched the colour of the
crustacen boilies i put around the choddy. it fought like stink all the
way to the net , it turned out to be a little 11lb mirror with two big
apple slice scales on the one side.It was a little beauty. i chucked the
choddy back out to the same spot and put a pva bag of crushed
crustacen boilies on the lead and put another 20 or so boilies around
the hook bait, then not long after dark i had another one on the same
rod, this time it was a simmo at 16lb. , then it was my mates turn he had
a 8lb ghosty and a 13lb fully scaled on the spicy sausage pop ups. time
was getting on now it was 11pm before we knew it so it was time to get
our heads down. Nothing happened threw the night again. i woke up at
half 7 to a one toner on the delks,it was cold getting out the bag at
that time of morning,a little bit of frost was still on the ground and
the rods. After a cold hard scrap the fish was in the net and i flicked
the stove on for a warm cupper because i was froze after the scrap it
gave me. it was a little fully scaled mirror at 12lb. I decided that it
was time to go home at 11 sunday morning. i was starving couldnt wait to
get home and have a nice cooked dinner .I was happy to get back in to
the fish because i had been blanking for nearly a month. they definitly
loved the crushed crustacen boilies in the pva bag tied to the lead on a
choddy but they would not take a bottom bait all fish that weekend
fell to a choddy.

I did my first overnighter up the pool no fish showing as usual so i set up in the middle of the pool i was using Celtic bait ss dumbell popups on chod rigs with ss boilies and corn as freebies. At 8:30pm I got my only bite when i got the fish under the rod tip i most of picked up a small branch off the bottom and it slid down my line and snapped my hook link so i lost my first bite of the year.

Hello all I am sorry we have not been very active of late! but with 2013 coming I think we are going to have a busy year at www,celticbait.com I am going to revamp the web page for all the carp fishing tackle and the Carp bait! the bait range is going to be reduced again to 4 or 5 baits, as you all know we are a small family company and pride ourself s on the quality of our bait not the volume we produce!
here is a preview of our new barrow being launched in 2013 with some more new designs on other carp fishing equipment to follow through the year!
so for now good bye and have a great new year!
